2005 NFL Strength of Schedule Rankings - Regular Season Win/Loss Record
Hindsight - Updated: April 10, 2005
Every
fantasy
football
season,
the one
aspect
that
most
owners
overlook
at draft
time is
a
player’s
strength
of
schedule.
This
statistic
can help
identify
which
players
will
have an
easy
road in
2005,
and
which
will
have an
uphill
climb.
Defenses
change
from
year-to-year
but
generally
the
teams
with the
worst
records
give up
the most
points.
Therefore,
having
players
who play
more of
these
teams in
the
following
year
have a
"weaker"
schedule,
which is
always
an
advantage
for your
fantasy
team.
Each
team's
strength
of
schedule
was
determined
by using
their
opponents'
combined
total
record
from the
previous
year.
Players
on the
higher
ranking
teams
should
be
drafted
above
players
of
similar
quality
who play
for the
teams
who
scored
lower on
the
list.
Players on these teams
should have an easier time putting up the points. Focus on those NFC West teams
as their players should rack up the points this year.

Still Pretty Easy
These teams should cruise
some weeks and flounder in others. Keep an eye out for players from the
NFC East and North but be a little wary of the NFC South as they have to play
the AFC East.

Getting Difficult
A tough voyage all season
long as their opponents' combined records are greater than .500, but strong players can weather the storms. Be warned about players from
the AFC South divisions, although they do have cushy games against the weak NFC
West.

Ouch!
No easy games here
according to last year standings.
No real surprises, except that all 10 teams are from the AFC. The
AFC East and West divisions have particularly hard schedules as they have to
play each other in 2005.
